This drill is an excellent training exercise, challenging both mental and physical skills. Here's a recap:
The setup includes 7 targets with numbered head-level indicators placed in random order. The shooter starts facing up range, while non-shooting participants or the Range Master randomly call out one or more numbers as "threats." The shooter must swiftly identify and engage the designated target(s).
As the drill progresses, late threats may be introduced, adding to the complexity. To elevate stress, team members behind the line create distractions like yelling, simulating high-pressure situations.
Key challenges in this drill:
Threat Identification & Engagement: Quickly identifying targets and delivering accurate hits.
Magazine Management: Using limited rounds per magazine adds the stress of a reload during the drill.
Partial Magazines: After neutralizing all threats, the two-person team reloads, ensuring fresh magazines are in the pouches while storing partial mags in the beltline—covered more deeply in a separate VOD.
This drill emphasizes decision-making, accuracy under stress, and team coordination—making it a favorite for many!
